Here’s how it goes : Frank runs into Astrid and she asks him if he’s okay. He says “Well, you know what happened”, to which Astrid replies “Statistically speaking, …” and proceeds to give him as much information he needs about break-ups. Frank can’t help it : he laughs. Somehow, she has made him feel better without even trying and that’s when he realizes this woman is special. She’s not like Olivia, she doesn’t hide anything, she doesn’t pretend. Astrid is brutally honest. She doesn’t look him in the eyes, she’s a little bit shy, but he feels something around her, and he needs to discover what. So Frank does the only thing he can think of : he asks her out. He thinks she’s going to say no but she says yes. She tries not to blush. He tries not to smile.
